Position: Business Analyst
Work Set-Up: Hybrid (2x per week onsite)
Office Location: Makati, Philippines
Schedule: Day Shift with flexible mid shift schedules for US counterpart collaboration/meetings
The Business/Systems Analyst plays a critical role in bridging business needs and technical solutions by translating requirements into actionable deliverables within an Agile framework. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to ensure accurate scoping, structured backlog development, and effective solution delivery
.
The analyst is responsible for driving requirement clarity, supporting sprint and program increment (PI) planning, defining testing strategies, and ensuring successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT). A strong combination of technical acumen, functional understanding, and critical thinking is essential, along with the ability to rapidly learn the client's trading and shipping business processes and supporting applications.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Business / Systems Analyst, you will:
- Requirements & Analysis
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Translate requirements into clear, structured user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
- Ensure proper scoping and prioritization of features aligned with business objectives.
- Agile Delivery & Backlog Management
- Create, refine, and maintain user stories, tasks, and backlog items.
- Support sprint planning and Program Increment (PI) planning activities.
- Manage and track capacity using Agile metrics (e.g., story points, velocity).
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Define and implement testing strategies across functional and system levels.
- Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities with business stakeholders.
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between business users and technical teams.
- Facilitate alignment on requirements, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Provide clarity and continuous feedback throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Domain & Application Learning
- Develop a strong understanding of trading and shipping processes and systems.
- Apply critical thinking to connect business workflows with technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
- Delivery Support & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor progress of deliverables and proactively identify risks or gaps.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Agile processes and delivery practices.
- Maintain documentation and knowledge assets for ongoing support and scalability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role in an Agile environment.
- Strong experience with:
- Requirements gathering and documentation
- User story creation and backlog management
- Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, or similar)
- Experience supporting sprint planning, PI planning, and capacity management.
- Demonstrated experience defining and supporting testing strategies and UAT.
- Ability to work closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with enterprise applications supporting trading or logistics operations.
- Strong critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to quickly learn new business domains.
- Experience using Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Understanding of system integration concepts and data flows.
- Exposure to test management frameworks and QA processes.
