A bus conductor is a public transport staff member responsible for managing fare collection, assisting passengers, and ensuring smooth operations on buses (common in traditional systems like jeepneys or non-automated buses)
Key Responsibilities
- Ticketing & Fare Management: Issue tickets, collect fares, and provide accurate change.
- Passenger Assistance: Guide passengers on routes, seating, and safety protocols.
- Schedule Coordination: Work with drivers to maintain timeliness and announce stops.
- Crowd Control: Ensure orderly boarding/alighting and prioritize vulnerable passengers (elderly, PWDs).
- Emergency Response: Assist during breakdowns/accidents (evacuation, first aid if certified).
- Record-Keeping: Track daily collections, passenger counts, and report discrepancies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year experience in customer service/public transport roles.
- Basic math skills for cash handling.
- First Aid/Basic Life Support certification (preferred).
Skills
- Strong communication (Tagalog/English; basic regional dialects a plus).
- Conflict resolution for handling disputes over fares/seating.
- Familiarity with Jeepney/bus routes and fare structures in Metro Manila.
- Physical stamina for standing/moving in crowded vehicles.
