Role Purpose
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Budget Coordinator will have a critical role in the budget controllership and analysis which will support Program. Implementers in terms of variance analysis, managing funding gaps and strategic allocation of funds. The post holder will work closely with the Finance Manager for Strategic Financial Management in the top-level analysis of the master budget and spending gaps to be able to come up with an effective budgeting structure and process
Key Areas Of Accountability
In collaboration with Finance Manager – Strategic Financial Management, the Budget Coordinator is responsible for Budget Proposals drafting, BvA review, spending analysis of critical awards, monthly gap analysis (staffing and non-staffing support costs) donor report preparation, and any other budgetary tasks.
Specific Duties

Specific Duties
- Budget Proposals
- Assist in the budget proposal development and ensure cost allocation is align to the Organization's budget
- Review budget structure in fund summary and confirm that requirements for reporting are clear and agreed
- Operations Management
- Produce monthly BvA and general ledger extract for submission to budget holders for Awards implemented
- Analyze on a monthly basis the spending gaps for the organization in terms of staffing and non-staffing
- Assist in the calibration of the 1st and 2nd forecast. Review budget loaders submitted from field offices and
budget phasing is at best estimates and within the budget allocation per Award that is in accordance with
the approved budget in the Fund Summary & closely coordinate with Field office Finance focal person.
- Controllership
- Provide financial report and information on the status of key grants and awards and ensure timely
– Strategic Financial Management and Awards Team.
- Preparation of required Donor Financial Reports and related attachments (e.g. general ledger) ensuring
closely coordinating with Field Finance Lead for the submission Financial Reports due to National Office,
review and endorse Financial Report to Finance Manager – Strategic Financial Management for further
review and endorsement to Finance Manager – Financial Planning and Analysis and CFO's Sign-off.
- Manage Financial Report Tracker based on Awards Financial Report Schedule for the month, quarter and
Report to Award/s for Member Submission. Prepare and Submit Awards Financial Close-out checklist of all
Awards ended.
- Others
- Contributes to the wider achievement of goals for children under the overall context of Save the Children
- Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Finance Manager for Strategic Financial Management
- Must have completed a degree in accounting, having a CPA is an advantage.
- Must have at least 3 to 5 years of work experience in the finance department, 3 years of which from an international organization or nonprofit/voluntary sector. International experience is preferred
- Understanding of grants management and financial systems and procedures.
- Experience in a computerized environment and knowledge in the use of accounting packages (knowledge of AGRESSO is highly preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform multi-tasking and ability to work on tight deadlines.
- Ability to work in a multicultural/cross-cultural environment. Adaptable, flexible with a high level of work ethics
- Understanding of Save the Children's vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives; willing to adopt Save the Children methodology and framework in program implementation; abide by and implement Save the Children's Eight Agency Policies including Child Safety.
