Role Overview
The Brand Communications Manager builds, manages, and protects the Makro Philippines brand across every touchpoint, from corporate messaging and PR to retail campaigns and digital content. As part of a growing start-up retail business, this role requires a strategic communicator who can work at both the corporate and store level, managing the brand narrative and media relations while driving campaigns that build awareness, footfall, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Makro Philippines brand guidelines, and act as brand guardian for all marketing collateral and public-facing materials
- Plan and execute integrated campaigns for store openings, seasonal promotions, and commercial events across ATL, BTL, and digital channels
- Coordinate in-store branding, signage, and visual merchandising communications with Store Operations
- Oversee the company's social media, website, and email presence, including the content calendar and performance tracking
- Lead corporate communications: press releases, media statements, executive messaging, and crisis communications
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers
- Support internal communications, including HR bulletins, townhall materials, and company announcements
- Manage creative agencies, PR firms, and production houses, including briefs, deliverables, and communications budgets
- Partner with Commercial, B2B Sales, Operations, and HR so marketing efforts support business priorities
- Report regularly to the Head of Marketing on campaign performance, media coverage, and brand health
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in brand communications, marketing communications, or corporate affairs, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Retail, FMCG, or wholesale experience strongly preferred; startup or pre-opening brand-building is a plus
- Strong storytelling and copywriting skills, with a solid grasp of both corporate communications (PR, media, crisis) and retail marketing
- Proficient in digital and social media management and analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics)
- Strong project management and presentation skills
- Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of Canva or Adobe Suite is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English and Filipino
