Job Description

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lifting & Rigging Operations

  • Prepare, set up, and operate rigging equipment for lifting and moving heavy loads such as pipes, MTBM components, jacking frames, and shaft equipment.
  • Calculate load weights, determine center of gravity, and select proper slings, shackles, hooks, chain blocks, and lifting accessories.
  • Attach loads securely and verify sling angles, working load limits (WLL), and stability before lifting.
  • Direct crane operators or heavy equipment operators using clear hand signals or radio communication.

Microtunneling Support

  • Assist in lowering/raising microtunneling equipment into shafts (e.g., MTBM, pipes, lubrication pumps, rails).
  • Rig and position pipes during jacking operations.
  • Support assembly/disassembly of tunnel boring equipment and pipe jacking systems.
  • Ensure safe load movement within confined or restricted areas.

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct daily inspection of rigging equipment and report defective items for immediate replacement.
  • Maintain proper certification and follow international lifting standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA, local safety regulations).
  • Enforce exclusion zones and ensure all personnel are clear before lifting operations begin.
  • Coordinate with Safety Officers for JHA, toolbox meetings, and lifting plans

Equipment Handling & Documentation

  • Maintain inventory of slings, shackles, belt slings, chain hoists,lifting beams, and hardware.
  • Ensure all rigging tools are tagged, color-coded, and in compliance with inspection schedules.
  • Assist in preparing lifting permit documentation when required.

Job Requirements

  • At least 25 years experience as a Rigger in construction, industrial, utilities, or microtunneling projects.
  • Knowledge of rigging principles, load calculation, WLL, sling angles, and crane signaling.
  • Experience working in confined spaces, shafts, and underground works (advantage).
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
  • Certifications (preferred):
  • Rigger Level I / II (TESDA or recognized training center)
  • Basic Rigging & Slinging
  • ConfinedSpace Entry
  • Safety Training (BOSH/COSH or equivalent)
  • Basic ISO 9001 QMS Awareness
