Job Description

The snapshot

This is a full-time bookkeeping role with an established Australian accounting and wealth advisory firm. They look after individuals, small businesses, and business owners across tax and compliance, bookkeeping, SMSF, and financial planning, so you would be working across a real mix of client entities: companies, trusts, and partnerships. You would own a portfolio of these clients, keeping their books clean and their BAS lodged on time, reporting to a Senior Accountant.

This role is for candidates based in the Philippines, working Australian hours. You are employed by Staffstream and placed with this client as a dedicated member of their team.

What you will actually do

Most of your day is reconciliations and keeping books accurate across several clients at once. It is detailed, deadline-driven work, and precision matters more than speed. If you like clean ledgers and take pride in getting the numbers right, this will suit you.

Reconciliations and general bookkeeping

  • Run regular bank and account reconciliations across multiple client entities in Xero, coding and categorizing transactions correctly and on schedule.
  • Investigate and clear reconciling items promptly so each client's ledger stays clean and audit-ready.
  • Keep each client's Xero file organized: chart of accounts, bank feeds, and transaction history accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain general ledger records across companies, trusts, and partnerships, and process accounts payable and receivable with correct coding.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting schedules so the accountant can handle year-end compliance and review.

BAS and compliance

  • Prepare BAS and IAS for client entities in line with ATO requirements and lodgement deadlines.
  • Apply correct treatment of GST, PAYG withholding, and super guarantee obligations before lodgement.

Managing the portfolio

  • Juggle bookkeeping for several clients at the same time, keeping records cleanly separated and quality consistent across every file.
  • Plan your own workload around staggered BAS and compliance deadlines without letting accuracy slip.

Working with the team and clients

  • Chase source documents, bank statements, and supporting information from clients so you can finish reconciliations and BAS on time.
  • Flag technical questions and complex issues to the Senior Accountant early and keep the team in the loop.

What you need to bring

  • Three to five years of bookkeeping experience gained inside an Australian accounting firm or a multi-entity business. This role needs Australian experience because you will work daily with AU GST, PAYG, BAS/IAS, and ATO deadlines, so that background is not optional.
  • Advanced, hands-on Xero skills across reconciliations, BAS preparation, and general ledger management. This is the tool you will live in, with minimal onboarding.
  • A solid working knowledge of Australian GST, PAYG withholding, and BAS/IAS preparation.
  • A track record of managing several client files at once and hitting competing deadlines.
  • Accuracy you can stand behind, and the reliability to follow through without being chased.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MYOB or other cloud accounting platforms alongside Xero.
  • Exposure to SMSF bookkeeping or trust accounting in a practice.
  • Familiarity with practice management software used in accounting firms.
  • Progress toward a bookkeeping or accounting qualification (for example ICB, or Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping).

The setup

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM PHT. You share the working day with the Australian team, so questions get answered as you work.
  • Remote, work-from-home setup.
  • Open to Philippines-based applicants only, and employed here in the Philippines.

What is in it for you

  • HMO with one free dependent, so your health cover extends to someone you look after.
  • Life insurance for added security.
  • Paid leave credits, so you can take real time off.
  • Work-from-home equipment provided. You get set up properly to do the job.
  • A stable, dedicated role with one client, not scattered short-term gigs. You become a real part of their team.
  • Room to grow. You are working alongside experienced Australian accountants on genuine practice work, which builds your skills and your resume.
  • Proper, compliant employment under Philippine law. Staffstream employs you correctly, handles your taxes, and covers your mandatory government benefits (SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG) plus 13th month pay. That means real security and peace of mind, not paperwork you have to worry about.
  • Genuine support behind you: a dedicated account manager and an HR team who are there when you need them.

How this works

You are employed by Staffstream, a company that builds dedicated offshore teams for Australian businesses. You would be placed with this Australian accounting firm as a full member of their team, doing real work for them every day. Staffstream handles your employment, pay, benefits, and support, so you get the stability of a proper job with a growing firm behind you and a team looking out for you.
