Job Description

  • Join our highly awarded Australian full-service digital marketing agency.
  • Play a key role in keeping Rocket's finance engine running smoothly.
  • Permanent/fulltime role + day-shift + comprehensive health benefits + above standard leaves and more.

Rocket, an Australian digital marketing agency, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. We have long-term team members in both Australia and the Philippines.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Bookkeeper based in the Philippines to join our internal finance team. You will be the right hand to our Sydney-based Financial Accountant, acting as the engine room that keeps our day-to-day bookkeeping and finance operations running smoothly.

In addition to these core bookkeeping responsibilities, you will be responsible for a number of non-financial operational tasks and processes important to the smooth running of the agency.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Owning daily bank and credit card reconciliations in Xero, processing supplier bills, raising customer invoices, and keeping our AP and AR queues current.
  • Month-End Support: Preparing accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, assembling management reporting packs, and preparing BAS workpapers for review.
  • Debtor Follow-Ups: Running templated debtor communications and statement runs, and preparing escalation lists for others in the team.
  • Process Execution: Running defined weekly and monthly processes outside the accounting system, including extracting data from internal and external systems.
  • Administrative Excellence: Keeping financial records clean and current, maintaining documentation, and ensuring no small detail falls through the cracks in our daily operations.
  • Ad Hoc VA Support: From time to time, supporting the agency with discrete, well-defined tasks routed through an agreed request process.

About You

  • Process Disciplined: You love a clean process, a tidy checklist, and a reconciled ledger. You take pride in clean books and error-free work.
  • Detail Obsessed: You catch the miscoded transactions, the duplicate bills and the broken formulas before they cause problems downstream.
  • Comfortable Speaking Up: You're willing to flag when something looks wrong rather than process it because you were told to.
  • A Follow-Through Expert: You aren't afraid to politely but firmly chase suppliers, clients or colleagues to ensure things get resolved.
  • Service-Minded: You enjoy being helpful across a variety of tasks and don't mind switching gears when needed.
  • Tech-Savvy: You're confident in Xero and Google Sheets, and pick up new platforms quickly.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years servicing Australian clients using Xero.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Financial Management, or a related field.
  • Xero: Xero Certified (verifiable on Xero's directory) is an advantage.
  • Australian GST & BAS: Hands-on experience preparing BAS and a solid working knowledge of Australian GST.
  • Tools: Strong Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivots, formulas) & Xero required.
  • Excellent English Communication: You will be communicating daily with our Sydney-based team and need to be confident, clear and concise (verbal and written).
  • Understanding of the Australian Market: Previous experience working with Australian clients or colleagues (or similar countries) is required.

Great Benefits

On top of your salary and government-mandated benefits, here are other exciting benefits you can look forward to:

  • Work remotely
  • Work from home set-up provided for you if needed
  • 20 paid leave credits / year
  • HMO coverage great benefits package with iCare plus 1 dependent
  • Rewards access to great employee recognition programs, anniversary, birthday vouchers and more.
  • Work day-shift
  • Fixed Saturday and Sunday days off with no overtime required
  • Diverse learning & growth opportunities
