The Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant whose primary focus will be bookkeeping accuracy and accounting knowledge. This role will handle daily financial data entry, account reconciliations, and ensure QuickBooks Online (QBO) records are consistently up-to-date and accurate

Work Hours: 8AM 5PM PST / 12AM 9AM PH Time

Requirements
- Associate's degree in Accounting or equivalent coursework preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Experience preparing or filing California sales and payroll taxes strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Essential Functions
Core Accounting Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely bookkeeping with a strong emphasis on precision and correctness.
- Maintain and update QBO, including consistent and accurate data entry and classification.
- Complete monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure all financial data aligns with GAAP standards.
- Assist in month-end close and organization of financial documents.
Tax Support Responsibilities
- Prepare California sales tax and California payroll tax filings.
- File these returns when possible, or provide complete and accurate documentation so the client can file.
General Support Tasks
- Maintain organized, audit-ready digital records.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the client and external partners as needed.
- Use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for reporting, documentation, and data organization.
SUCCESS METRICS (FIRST 90 DAYS)
- Books are at least 50% current compared to the existing backlog.
- Accurate and timely monthly financial reports are delivered.
- All reconciliations are up to date and consistently maintained.
- Clear communication and reliability established with the client.
ONGOING EXPECTATIONS
- Deliver monthly financial reports.
- Maintain accurate, updated books on an ongoing basis.
- Continue improving categorization, reconciliation efficiency, and documentation practices.
