About the role:
Billing and Collections Specialist is a member of our Operations team. This role will be responsible for cash management, billing & collection functions, and/or reconciliations. Extensive collaboration is required with underwriting, IT, brokers, legal & regulatory, external vendors, and insureds. This role reports to our Director of Billing & Collections and is a remote opportunity or hybrid opportunity based in one of Client's office locations. Client's US colleagues have the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions).
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Responsible for the timely and accurate allocation of funds received in the billing system
• Ability to analyze reports to ensure timely collections of premium and deductible receivables
• Timely and thoroughly responds to brokers/customer inquiries
• Identifies and investigates discrepancies by collaborating with internal staff and brokers to resolve
• Identify past due accounts and attempt to collect those balances in a timely manner, but if necessary issue a Notice of Cancellation if not resolved
• Maintain, generate, and analyze weekly and monthly reports
• Review new broker requests and processes in the Distribution Management system
• Identify and implement more efficient and effective procedures
• Support new billing system enhancements by performing testing and giving feedback
• Assist with a variety of special projects as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
• At least 5 years of industry experience required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Expert skills using Excel
• Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Client's associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
• Has an insurance background and understands commercial insurance terminology.
