We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented
Bilingual Spanish Medical Assistant to join a busy orthopedic, sports medicine, and physical therapy practice. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities in both
English and Spanish, and experience supporting physicians and therapists in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role is patient-facing and requires occasional video interactions with patients as part of virtual care coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and accurately document medical histories and chief complaints
- Assist physicians and therapists during orthopedic, sports medicine, physical therapy visits, and minor in-office procedures
- Communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and provide clear interpretation of medical instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up care
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, instruments, and medical supplies
- Document patient encounters, referrals, imaging orders, authorizations, and follow-up activities in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Support physical therapy workflows, including patient preparation and basic exercise or rehabilitation guidance as directed by the provider
- Handle incoming and outgoing patient calls, appointment coordination, prescription requests, and clinical messages using RingCentral or similar communication systems
- Participate in occasional video conversations with patients for care coordination, follow-up, or virtual clinical support
- Collaborate closely with physicians, physical therapists, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient daily operations and excellent patient care
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic, orthopedic practice, sports medicine clinic, physical therapy setting, or related specialty
- Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient intake procedures, and clinical documentation
- Experience using EHR/EMR systems for charting and patient communication
- Comfortable interacting with patients through both in-person and video-based communication
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
- Experience in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, or Rehabilitation Medicine
- Familiarity with RingCentral or similar phone and communication platforms
- Current Medical Assistant certification is a plus
