The Syneria's main services were founded on 2 pillars:
- Technical Due Diligence (TDD): Ensuring seamless financing and M&A transactions by assessing technical risks through full TDD scope, optimizing CAPEX/OPEX, ensuring bankability and translating technical insights into clear financial metrics.
- Support to Project Developers/Owners: Acting as an extension of technical teams for wind/PV site selection, support in Pre-Feasibility/Feasibility Assessment, Geographical Information System (GIS) analysis, wind measurement campaigns, technology selection, preliminary design, layout optimisation, bankable energy yield assessments, supply/construction and O&M contracts review, Owner's Engineer support and plant inspections.

Your Role
As one of the first hires in our Manila office (4 staff to date), this position at Syneria in the Philippines represents a pivotal role within our organization, offering the successful candidate extensive opportunities for professional growth, working closely with the Regional Manager (based in Manila) and play a key role in Syneria's expansion in the Philippines and in the ASEAN region, with exposure to projects in Europe as well. Should you be successful, you will become a key technical specialist for BESS within the group.
A major part of the role will be related to ongoing project assignments on hybrid wind/solar/BESS projects or standalone BESS projects. You will also participate in the preparation of proposals and support the business development activities for the BESS market.
Among other, the tasks will include using specialized software, preparing preliminary BESS designs and single line diagrams, reviewing BESS designs, preparing technical requirements for BESS procurement, power generation modelling, and gathering technological and market intelligence. You may also be involved in conferences and exhibitions as well as clients meetings as part of the role.
Travels may be expected on an ad hoc basis to oversee projects implemented in the Philippines and in the ASEAN region.
You will also be interacting with your colleagues involved on BESS projects in Europe and may occasionally support them with their projects.
The main tasks will include:
- BESS technology and supplier review: tracking cell/module chemistry, PCS/inverter, BMS/EMS, and augmentation strategy across key suppliers, to maintain Syneria's internal technology benchmarking and support equipment selection across engagements.
- Contribution to pre-feasibility/feasibility studies for hybrid/standalone BESS projects: analysis of electrical and grid-related constraints, review of connection options, preliminary definition of plant electrical architecture, and plant/BESS interaction concepts.
- Hybrid/standalone BESS and electrical design: preparation of key BESS/electrical equipment selection, preliminary single-line diagrams and concept/preliminary designs, and layout optimisation.
- Preparation and review of procurement technical specifications for BESS and associated electrical equipment, to support tendering and vendor selection processes.
- Technology and design review as part of Technical Due Diligence services: structured review of BESS technology, BESS performance assumptions, related electrical systems, grid connection, and constructability.
- Review and assessment of transmission line and grid interconnection aspects: routing assumptions, high-level design review, BESS-grid interaction concepts, metering, and interface with utilities.
- Site visits and inspections of BESS projects and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Development and improvement of internal engineering tools and methodologies.
- Quality assurance (peer review) of internal assessments and reports.
- Participation in Business Development activities: preparation of offers/proposals, participation in industry events, clients meetings, and conference calls.
- Market intelligence on BESS and grid-related regulatory, technology, and commercial developments.
- Coordination with external partners and with colleagues in France.
Your Profile
- Bachelor/Master's degree in electrical/chemical engineering or related to energy storage engineering – Licensed/Registered Engineers and Professional Engineers will be preferred;
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, for a project developer, EPC, institution (e.g. Department of Energy), or consultancy;
- Familiarity with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Virto.CAD and power system analysis software would be a plus ;
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel;
- Good teamwork capabilities but also skills to work independently;
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills;
- Client-oriented, a service mind with a positive attitude toward work;
- Good command of work under pressure, with tight delivery deadlines and high quality expectations;
- Fluent in Tagalog ;
- Fluent in English. Basic skills in French will be a plus but is not mandatory;
- Pro-active, curious, pragmatic, solution-oriented, and self-reliant;
- Willingness to live in Metro Manila, with offices in BGC, Taguig City – no working-from-home permitted as part of this role;
- Package will include HMO Private Health Insurance and 5 working days per week (Monday to Friday).
