BESS Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Engineer supports business development and early-stage execution of BESS and hybrid PV+BESS projects. The role provides technical, commercial, and feasibility inputs from project concept through pre-construction, supporting investment decisions and project readiness.

MAJOR PROCESSES:

1. Project pre-feasibility studies and technical due diligence

2. BESS sizing, configuration, and technology evaluation

3. Grid interconnection and system performance assessment

4. Technical-commercial coordination with OEMs, EPCs, and consultants

5. Support to investment evaluation, approvals, and project gating

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct technical feasibility studies and due diligence for PV + BESS and Stand-Alone BESS projects

2. Develop preliminary system sizing, layouts, operating philosophy, and single-line diagrams

3. Evaluate PV and BESS technologies, suppliers, warranties, degradation profiles, and performance guarantees

4. Coordinate with OEMs, EPCs, and consultants for technical inputs and cost assumptions

5. Prepare and review Terms of Reference (TOR), RFPs, and technical bid evaluations

6. Provide technical inputs to financial models, including CAPEX, OPEX, efficiency, losses, and lifecycle assumptions

7. Assess grid interconnection requirements, grid code compliance, and dispatch considerations

8. Support technical-commercial discussions and negotiations with partners, suppliers, and off takers

9. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and investment memoranda for management and stakeholders

QUALIFICATION GUIDE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering
• Registered Engineer preferred
• 3–5 years experience in energy storage or power projects
• Knowledge of BESS technologies and grid codes
• Strong analytical and communication skills
