Benefits Administrator Position Purpose Benefits administration must be a core competency as an Employer of Record. This position is the main point of contact for employee benefit inquiries. Responsibilities include explaining benefits and assisting with enrollment. Team member maintains and ensures accuracy of all benefit related data in the HRIS and carrier systems. Responsible for the administration and financial analysis of health and welfare employee benefit programs. Compiles, analyzes and reports data. Presents information to inform and educate management. Serves as a liaison with carriers and service providers. Job Specific Competencies
Understanding of basics of how medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance benefits and premium calculations work
Understanding of basics of payroll processing and benefit deductions
Demonstrated basic knowledge of ERISA, 5500 reporting, employee benefit programs, including flexible benefit programs, financial analysis and budgeting
Ability to perform mathematical calculations in computing rates, premiums and adjustments
Understanding of basics of processing National Medical Support Notices
Additional Skill Requirements
Intermediate to expert Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
3 - 5 years benefits administration and analysis
1 - 2 years payroll processing experience
UltiPro experience - payroll, day-to-day benefits administration, open enrollment configuration and administration, PPACA (1095-C) reporting
Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting in an HRIS, preferably UltiPro
Experience working with payroll benefit deductions and considering pay date versus pay period, etc.
Previous experience collaborating with a payroll team to process adjustments to regularly scheduled deductions
Experience processing benefits for a high volume, fast-paced, high turnover population
Experience managing leave and state mandated paid family leave plans
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with an emphasis in business or finance, or equivalent years professional/analytical experience related to the above described duties.
Benefits certification a plus (i.e., CEBS)
Payroll certification a plus (i.e., CPP)
Work Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however it may require the ability to lift files or other objects (up to 15 pounds). Minimal travel may be required.
Position Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Accountability 1: Benefits Administration & Customer Service
Provides guidance and counsel to employees, HRIS representatives, and managers on the requirements and provisions of benefit programs and assist with the resolution of potential problems.
Administration of COBRA in coordination with third party vendor
Maintains Employee Benefits customer service mailbox and responds and resolves in a timely, accurate manner
Accountability 2: Financial Analysis of benefit premiums, employee deductions, and employer contributions
Reconciliation of carrier invoices
Maintenance and reconciliation of payroll benefit deductions
Timely Payment and tracking and variance analysis of carrier premiums
Accountability 3: Maintain benefit records and associated payroll deductions in UltiPro
Assures processes and procedures are in place to capture and maintain consistent and accurate benefit related data.
Assists with employee data auditing and reporting.
Works closely with payroll to review and balance weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly deductions
Manages arrears and collects premiums for employees on Leave
Responsible for data necessary to complete government compliance activities (5500s, audits, etc.), employee mailings,vendor billings, coordinating data collection and updating numerous reports for management.
Accountability 4: Open Enrollment Coordination & Processing
Administers the communication and processing of annual benefit enrollment materials and online portal (UltiPro).
Develops, conducts and participates in a variety of presentations to inform and educate management and employees about changes to benefit plans, administrative practices and legislated requirements and programs
Participates and makes suggestions for changes to benefit plan design and strategies
