Job Description

Job Summary/Purpose: A Bar Supervisor is responsible for leading and optimizing daily bar operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences while ensuring compliance, consistency, and profitability. This role oversees staff performance, training, scheduling, and adherence to brand standards, while maintaining strict control over inventory, hygiene, and liquor regulations. Operating within a highly collaborative environment, the role requires seamless coordination with internal teams—including F&B leadership, kitchen, service staff, front office, and support departments—as well as external partners such as suppliers and vendors. The position also serves as a key guest-facing representative, focusing on service recovery, personalized engagement, and maintaining a welcoming, high-quality bar atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Guest Experience

  • Oversee daily bar operations to ensure smooth service, timely beverage preparation, and exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Anticipate guest needs, deliver personalized service, and promptly resolve concerns to maintain a high-quality experience.
  • Plan and execute promotions and events (e.g., happy hours, seasonal campaigns) to drive revenue and guest engagement.
  • Supervise bar setup and breakdown, ensuring operational readiness at all times.

2. Beverage Development & Innovation

  • Develop and curate seasonal and signature beverage offerings aligned with market trends and guest preferences.
  • Gather and analyze guest feedback to continuously enhance product offerings and service quality.

3. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Manage inventory through regular audits, weekly stocktakes, and accurate tracking of usage, waste, and spoilage.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely procurement with suppliers to ensure availability and cost efficiency.
  • Implement cost-control measures to minimize wastage, prevent pilferage, and optimize profitability.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of all bar equipment.

4. Staff Supervision & Development

  • Lead shift operations, including scheduling, task delegation, and pre-shift briefings.
  • Train, mentor, and coach bar staff on beverage preparation, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that supports team performance, engagement, and productivity.

5. Compliance, Quality & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene standards, safety regulations, and cash handling procedures.
  • Enforce local liquor laws, including age verification and responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Maintain high standards in beverage preparation, presentation, cleanliness, and sanitation.
  • Oversee cash operations, including register management, reconciliations, and safe drop procedures.

6. Administrative & Financial Support

  • Prepare operational and sales reports for management review.
  • Support budgeting, cost analysis, and revenue forecasting to meet financial targets.
