About This Role
We are currently looking for a Bank Reconciliation officer to join our growing team. This role plays a key part in the reconciliation process, which is a core and ongoing responsibility. The function involves the regular review and resolution of discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness across financial records. While the role sits within the finance team, its focus is more aligned with control and oversight rather than direct transactional input into the accounts. As such, it supports the integrity of financial reporting by acting as a safeguard within the broader finance environment.

Roles & Responsibilities
Reconciliations
- Perform daily reconciliation of multicurrency, multiregional bank accounts used for FX trades, settlements, and customer transactions, ensuring real-time accuracy across multiple payment rails and liquidity providers.
- Communicate reconciling items to operational and trading teams, monitor resolution progress, and escalate unresolved discrepancies to senior finance or risk teams to minimize exposure in volatile FX markets.
- Provide monthly variance reports detailing the position of all bank accounts versus the ledger, highlighting FX-related fluctuations, settlement timing differences, and potential operational risks.
- Collaborate closely with operations, trading, and banking partners to ensure accurate and timely processing of extended currencies, returned payments, wire settlements, net settlements, and complex FX transactions across multiple regions.
- Assist in internal and external audits by supplying detailed documentation, transaction evidence, and explanations specific to foreign exchange activities, regulatory compliance, and cross-border payment flows.
Cancellations and Middle Office
- Rolling any transaction in line with the client's settlement method.
- Monitoring trades awaiting balance and other open positions – liaising with clients on settlements and close outs, including Fraud.
- Offline beneficiary reviews and inputs.
- Dealing with Dealers requests to manage accounts and maintain segregation of duties.
- Any other adhoc Middle Office related queries and tasks.
- Compliance close out requests.
- BAML returns.
- Ongoing monitoring of returned payments queue.
- Ongoing monitoring of the Cancellation and Middle Office queue in Zendesk.
- Liaising with Consumer and Corporate desks regarding any transactions over £50K in value or offside by more than £500 (or equivalent)
- Assist Middle Office desk with reports & duties as required.
- Assist Credit desk with reports & duties as required.
- Liaising with internal and external customers as required.
- Proactively work on enhancing systems, controls, and processes.
- Ensure timely and professional resolution and escalation of any client disputes (where relevant)
Who You Are
- Previous experience:(3 years +) in Bank Reconciliation
- Desirable experience: Proven experience in the banking industry with a focus on multi-currency and multi-region operations. Strong understanding of foreign exchange risk management practices.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in reviewing financial records is necessary to spot errors and inconsistencies. Accuracy in processing invoices and payments is essential to avoid mistakes and discrepancies.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong numerical skills in handling financial calculations and reconciling accounts.
- Problem-Solving: Skill in identifying issues, determining their root causes, and implementing practical solutions.
- Technical Proficiency: Competent with Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and adaptable to new and internal systems.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet reconciliation deadlines. Time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines and manage the time and resources of others effectively.
- Knowledge of Accounting Principles: Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate reconciliation. Display problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, andexcellent numeracy skills.
- Communication Skills: Clear communication with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve issues and discrepancies. Ability to communicate professionally with others, fostering good working relationships with other departments.
