Job Summary: The Back End Developer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust backend services and integrations that power scalable, secure, and high-performing applications. This role will work extensively with PHP (Laravel) to develop and manage RESTful APIs, support system integrations, and ensure optimal performance across backend infrastructure. Additionally, this position will also oversee containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes on Oracle Linux servers, implementing monitoring and alerting solutions to maintain uptime and reliability.

What does a day in the life of a Back End Developer look like

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using PHP (Laravel)
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs and system integrations
• Oversee containerized environments using Kubernetes and Docker on Oracle Linux servers
• Ensure data integrity, scalability, and performance through optimized code and infrastructure
• Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure reliability and uptime
• Collaborate with front-end teams to deliver cohesive, secure, and high-performing applications
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs
• Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules
• Collaborate with other departments as needed
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications of a Back End Developer

• Minimum of 3 years in backend web development
• Proficiency with PHP (Laravel) and database design (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Sendbird, Elastic Search, Hive, and Cloudflare is a plus
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-changing start-up setting, with comfort working in the gray
• Basic understanding of Next.js or React to support cross-functional collaboration
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
