Back End Developer (Laravel/PHP)

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Back End Developer (Laravel/PHP) role based in Makati.

We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Backend Developer to build and maintain the core infrastructure powering our secure digital payment platform. This is not just a maintenance role; you will design scalable APIs, integrate critical financial services, and take end-to-end ownership of backend systems — working onsite alongside frontend, mobile, and product teams to build for scale, security, and compliance in a regulated space.

Key Responsibilities

•          Backend System Development:

◦        Develop and maintain secure, scalable Laravel/PHP backend services and RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.

◦        Design and optimize databases to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

◦        Write clean, maintainable code with unit testing, while monitoring and supporting production systems.

•          Fintech Integration & Security:

◦        Integrate payment gateways, banking APIs, KYC providers, SMS/OTP services, and other third-party fintech solutions.

◦        Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection following fintech best practices.

•          Cross-Functional Collaboration & Architecture:

◦        Collaborate with frontend and mobile developers to deliver seamless API integrations.

◦        Participate in code reviews, agile development, and continuous improvement of backend architecture.

◦        Contribute to technical decisions around system design, scalability, and infrastructure as the platform grows.

Qualifications

•          Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience building production backend systems with PHP and Laravel (or a comparable framework).

•          API Development: Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs for web and mobile consumption.

•          Database Proficiency: Proficiency with MySQL, including database design, optimization, and query performance.

•          Security Fundamentals: Solid understanding of secure authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and encryption fundamentals.

•          Integration Experience: Experience integrating third-party APIs in production.

•          Work Style: Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative, fast-paced agile environment.

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)

•          Experience building fintech, banking, digital wallet, or payment processing applications.

•          Hands-on experience integrating payment gateways, banking APIs, KYC providers, or SMS/OTP services.

•          Familiarity with Git, Composer, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure).

•          Experience monitoring and supporting production systems (logging, alerting, incident response).

•          Experience working in a regulated or compliance-heavy industry.

• •    Awareness of AMLC (Anti-Money Laundering Council) regulations as they relate to fintech mobile compliance.
