We are developing a modern B2B SaaS platform and are looking for experienced contract resources to help move the application from MVP toward a secure, maintainable, production-ready product. The platform includes multiple user roles, secure data access, workflow-driven screens, dashboards, approvals, reporting, and third-party integrations.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Backend / API Lead to support the development of a modern, multi-tenant SaaS platform. This role will focus on backend architecture, API development, data modeling, authentication/authorization, security, and long-term maintainability. The ideal candidate has strong experience building secure, scalable business applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, PostgreSQL or SQL Server, and Azure. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who can work independently, make sound architectural decisions, and help guide backend implementation across a complex application with multiple user types and permission levels.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend APIs for a multi-tenant SaaS platform
• Implement clean, maintainable service-layer business logic
• Create and maintain secure data access patterns
• Support role-based access control and permission-driven workflows
• Ensure tenant isolation across application features
• Build and maintain Entity Framework Core models, migrations, and queries
• Improve backend reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Review existing code and refactor where appropriate
• Support integrations with third-party services as needed
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps resources
• Assist with test coverage for critical security and workflow scenarios
• Document key architectural decisions and API behavior

Required Qualifications

• Strong C# and ASP.NET Core Web API experience
• Strong Entity Framework Core experience
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar relational databases
• Experience designing secure SaaS APIs
• Understanding of multi-tenant application architecture
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization
• Experience with clean architecture, layered architecture, or similar patterns
• Ability to troubleshoot complex backend issues
• Ability to write maintainable, production-quality code
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure App Service, Azure SQL/PostgreSQL, Key Vault, or Application Insights experience
• Experience with Entra ID, external identity providers, or JWT-based auth
• Experience with secure document handling or file storage
• Experience with payment, contract, notification, or workflow integrations
• Background in B2B SaaS, marketplace platforms, HR tech, staffing tech, or operations platforms
• Experience writing automated tests for API security and data access
