Role Overview
We are looking for an AWS-focused DevOps Engineer who can operate across both cloud operations and platform engineering, working within a customer-aligned model to take ownership of AWS environments while contributing to a wider engineering team.
In this role, you will:
- Own and evolve AWS-based environments for a defined customer account
- Drive automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code adoption
- Improve security posture, reliability, and scalability
- Work closely with customer teams, developers, and internal specialists
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across live production environments, while also building and improving the systems that run them.
Customer-Aligned Engineering Model
This role operates within our customer-aligned engineering model, where you will be primarily aligned to a specific customer account.
- Act as a dedicated technical point of contact for the customer's AWS environment
- Develop a deep understanding of their architecture, workloads, and business priorities
- Take ownership of the stability, optimisation, and continuous improvement of their platform
- Work closely with customer stakeholders to deliver ongoing value and technical guidance
While aligned to a customer, you will remain part of the wider Cloud Bridge engineering team, benefiting from:

- Access to subject matter experts across cloud, security, and DevOps
- Collaboration on complex challenges and cross-customer initiatives

This model combines the ownership of an embedded engineer with the strength of a highly skilled AWS partner team.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Operations & Support
- Provide advanced technical support for AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, etc.)
- Troubleshoot system, application, and network issues in line with SLAs
- Monitor platform performance and availability using CloudWatch and observability tooling
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and continuous improvement
DevOps & Platform Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitOps workflows)
- Support and operate containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Implement deployment strategies and improve release processes
- Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
- Manage AWS environments across multiple accounts, including networking, compute, storage, and databases
- Support modern AWS architectures including Landing Zones, multi-account strategies, and Transit Gateway
- Maintain and optimise services such as RDS/Aurora, backups, and performance tuning
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure scalable and resilient application deployments
Security & Compliance
- Embed security best practices across infrastructure and delivery pipelines
- Implement and manage security tooling (e.g. vulnerability scanning, container/image security)
- Apply principles such as least privilege, encryption, and secrets management
- Support compliance and audit requirements where applicable
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Create and maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and technical documentation
- Identify opportunities for automation and service improvement
- Contribute to internal tooling, frameworks, and reusable patterns
Essential Skills
- Strong experience working with AWS services (EKS, EC2, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Solid understanding of containerisation and Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure and applications
- Experience with scripting (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Understanding of AWS networking concepts (VPC, routing, load balancing)
- Knowledge of security best practices (IAM, encryption, secrets management)
- Experience working in a customer-facing or managed services environment
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience with GitOps tools (e.g. ArgoCD, Flux)
- Exposure to observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Experience with multi-account AWS environments / Control Tower
- Familiarity with security tooling (Snyk, Trivy, etc.)
- Exposure to other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP)
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, finance)
- AWS certifications (Associate, Professional, or Specialty)
