Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for an Australian Tax Accountant, open to candidates based in Malaysia, the Philippines, or Australia (MY/PH/AU-based only). The role involves preparing and reviewing Australian tax returns and schedules for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs, ensuring compliance with current ATO regulations. The accountant will manage tax planning and advisory tasks, reconcile accounts, and prepare or review financial statements in line with Australian accounting standards. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, liaising with clients and internal stakeholders, responding to tax queries, and supporting process improvements and automation initiatives. The role requires proactive management of deadlines, attention to detail, and consistent communication within a distributed team environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong tax expertise, including Tax, Tax Compliance, and Tax Preparation for Australian individuals and entities.
  • Proficiency in Accounting principles and preparation of Financial Statements under Australian standards.
  • BAS Preparation, Payroll and Bookkeeping Process skills and experience is also a must.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent) are advantageous.
  • Experience with Australian tax legislation, ATO systems, and common accounting/tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote setting, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Prior experience working with diverse client groups such as SMEs, professional services, or high wealth individuals is beneficial.
