Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles in line with Australian legislation.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies against ledger records independently once confident with the systems.
  • Own payroll queries end-to-end, from calculation through to explaining the outcome to employees and account managers.
  • Keep across changes to Australian payroll legislation, awards, and superannuation rules that affect your accounts.
  • Build simple reference notes or guides so common payroll questions get answered consistently.
  • Process journals, accruals, and adjustments related to payroll.

Must-Have Qualifications

Before you apply, confirm:

  • You have hands-on experience processing Australian payroll end-to-end
  • You're confident resolving payroll discrepancies with minimal supervision.
  • You're comfortable being the first point of contact for payroll questions from a team, not just processing numbers behind the scenes.
  • You can explain a payroll outcome clearly to someone who isn't a payroll expert.
  • You can work Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm AEST with a stable internet connection and a quiet home setup.
  • Your written and spoken English is clear and professional for direct contact with employees and account managers.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or similar payroll/accounting software.
  • Bookkeeping experience beyond payroll, such as AP/AR or bank reconciliations.
  • Experience with Employment Hero or Dext.
