Job Description

The Audit Technology & Innovations Center of Excellence helps JG Summit's internal audit teams work better with technology, analytics, automation, and AI.

This is a hands-on builder role. You will design and build internal tools that reduce manual audit work, improve review quality, and help auditors focus more time on judgment, analysis, and decision-making. These tools may include dashboards, workflow trackers, data automations, document review utilities, and AI-assisted workflows.

You do not need an internal audit background. You bring the software-building, automation, and

AI engineering skills, and you'll learn the audit, risk, and controls domain with us.

The right person for this role is not just excited about AI. You should be able to build reliable tools that real users adopt, handle sensitive data responsibly, and know when AI output needs human review and validation.

WHAT IS THE JOB LIKE

  • 3–5 years of experience building and shipping software, internal tools, automations, dashboards, or data-driven applications used by real users.
  • Strong ability in at least one modern programming language. Python is especially useful for this role.
  • Experience building usable web applications or internal tools, including front-end, back-end, and API work.
  • Experience working with databases, files, spreadsheets, APIs, or messy operational data.
  • Experience using Git and basic software development practices that keep code maintainable.
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI in development work, with the ability to explain how you verify AI-generated output.
  • Experience building something real with an LLM API or AI workflow, such as document extraction, structured outputs, RAG, tool use, an agent workflow, or an AI-assisted review process.
  • Ability to work directly with non-technical users and translate their needs into working solutions.
  • Good judgment around data privacy, confidentiality, and access control.

WHO ARE YOU

  • LLM APIs such as Azure OpenAI, Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini.
  • RAG, structured extraction, function calling / tool use, or agentic workflow design.
  • Building evals, validation checks, or quality controls for AI-assisted outputs.
  • SQL and data analytics.
  • Working with SAP data, enterprise reports, or operational system exports.
  • Cloud experience, Azure especially.
  • Basic understanding of access controls, logging, and secure handling of confidential data.
  • Experience in audit, risk, controls, compliance, finance, operations, or governance.
  • Experience with document-heavy workflows such as contract, policy, evidence, or report review.
  • Experience improving spreadsheet-based or manual business processes.
  • Interest in how AI can responsibly improve assurance, audit, and risk work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Build internal audit technology

  • Design and build internal web apps, dashboards, trackers, review tools, and automation utilities used by auditors across the group.
  • Build usable front-end interfaces, back-end logic, APIs, and data workflows where needed.
  • Turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy, or document-heavy audit processes into repeatable tools and workflows.
  • Improve existing prototypes into maintainable tools that can be reused across audit teams.

Work with auditors and stakeholders

  • Sit with auditors to understand how their work is actually done.
  • Translate vague needs, process pain points, sketches, or one-sentence ideas into working prototypes.
  • Test tools with users, gather feedback, and improve usability.
  • Explain technical options in plain language so non-technical users can make informed decisions.

Work with data

  • Pull, clean, transform, and structure data from sources such as SAP exports, reports, spreadsheets, and other approved enterprise sources.
  • Build repeatable data preparation and monitoring routines.
  • Help audit teams improve data quality, exception tracking, and evidence handling.

Support audit engagements technically

  • Provide technical support to audit teams in areas such as analytics, automation, document review, data extraction, and AI-assisted testing.
  • Recommend practical tools or approaches based on the engagement need.
  • Audit conclusions and professional judgments remain with the audit engagement team.

Use AI in your own work

  • Use generative AI as part of your development workflow where it helps.
  • Be able to explain where AI helped, where it failed, and how you verified the output.
  • Bring a practical point of view on what should be automated, what should not, and what needs human review.
