Assembly is seeking a Client Finance Audit & Compliance Officer to support the Client Finance team by ensuring adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements. This role helps prepare for internal, external, and client audits, maintains documentation of key controls, and monitors compliance across revenue recognition, billing, and client finance processes. You will report to the Director of Finance
Key Responsibilities
- Support preparation for internal audits, external audits, and client audits, ensuring documentation and supporting schedules are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
- Coordinate with Client Finance Managers and Accounting teams to gather required audit documentation and respond to auditor requests.
- Maintain organized audit support files, reconciliations, and control documentation across revenue, billing, and intercompany processes.
- Monitor adherence to internal control frameworks, SOX requirements, and accounting policies within Client Finance workflows.
- Perform periodic compliance checks on revenue recognition, billing processes, WIP/STBB management, and job cost coding.
- Identify control gaps or process risks and escalate findings with recommended corrective actions.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key Client Finance processes including revenue recognition, billing, and client reconciliations.
- Assist with documenting control procedures, process flows, and audit evidence required for regulatory and internal control compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of compliance documentation and audit readiness practices.
- Review client contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs) to ensure financial treatment aligns with revenue recognition policies and internal guidelines.
- Validate appropriate job setup, revenue attribution, and cost coding based on contract terms.
- Partner with Client Finance teams to resolve discrepancies impacting revenue or billing accuracy.
- Track and report audit findings, control exceptions, and remediation status to Client Finance leadership.
- Assist in root cause analysis for audit findings and support implementation of corrective controls.
- Contribute to compliance reporting and periodic control assessments within the department.
Required Skills & Experience
- 35 years of experience in accounting, audit, compliance, or finance roles, preferably within a media, agency, or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, revenue recognition, billing workflows, and internal controls.
- Experience supporting internal or external audit processes.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation analysis).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple audit requests, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with finance, operations, and auditors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CMA, or equivalent) or progress toward certification.
- Experience with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
- Exposure to media finance platforms (e.g., Mediaocean, Prisma, I/O systems, reconciliation tools).
- Familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) or workflow automation tools.
- Experience working in an agency or marketing services environment.
