Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as an AU Tax Specialist or in a comparable Australian tax position
  • Hands-on exposure to Australian tax work, including expatriate tax, international tax, R&D tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and Country-by-Country Reporting
  • Solid knowledge of Australian tax compliance, reporting obligations, and supporting documentation
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain tax concepts and requirements effectively
  • Strong accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail when reviewing tax data, records, and documents
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
  • Strong workload management skills, with the ability to organise tasks, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel for tax calculations, analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and data handling
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, or Finance, with a major in Accounting
  • Dual degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Law, with an Accounting major, is highly regarded
  • Progress toward CPA, CA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Apply a working knowledge of key tax concepts, including tax provisions, Capital Gains Tax, loss provisions, GST, taxation of trusts, and withholding tax, when reviewing and preparing tax work
  • Conduct tax research and prepare guidance on expatriate taxation, international tax, R&D tax matters, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and Country-by-Country Reporting
  • Prepare and compile company and trust tax returns, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and properly documented
  • Compile fringe benefits tax returns and maintain the required supporting records
  • Assist with tax audit activities by gathering information, reviewing relevant documentation, and preparing audit-related files
  • Manage and respond to ATO-related queries, including preparing supporting information and assisting with tax correspondence
