Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented AU Tax and Business Advisory Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced intermediate-level accountant who is looking to grow long-term within a dynamic and supportive firm environment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our Australian clients through tax compliance, business advisory, and financial reporting functions. This is not a heavily micromanaged environment. We are looking for someone proactive, self-directed, and committed to delivering high-quality work with minimal supervision.

This role offers strong long-term growth opportunities, exposure to advisory and external CFO support work, and the ability to become a trusted member of the team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS returns
  • Prepare year-end financial statements and working papers
  • Prepare Australian income tax returns for:
  • Companies
  • Trusts
  • Individuals
  • Partnerships (where applicable)
  • Prepare Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation and accounting standards
  • Identify inconsistencies, risks, and compliance issues proactively

Business Advisory Support

  • Assist with business advisory engagements and client support
  • Support management reporting and external CFO service delivery
  • Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support client decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting

General Accounting Support

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and reconciliations
  • Support bookkeeping review where required
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure timely deliverables
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience with Australian clients
  • Strong understanding of Australian taxation and compliance requirements
  • Experience preparing:
  • BAS / IAS
  • Financial statements
  • Company and trust tax returns
  • FBT returns
  • Strong business advisory exposure or capability
  • Proficiency in Xero
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Nice to have
  • Experience with management reporting and external CFO support
  • Exposure to Sift Analytics, Spotlight Reporting, or equivalent reporting tools
  • Experience reviewing bookkeeping work
  • CA / CPA qualification or ongoing studies
