We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant with Australian public practice and audit experience to support our growing client base. This role will work closely with Australian Partners, Managers, and Audit Leads, providing end-to-end accounting and audit support across a portfolio of clients.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in Australian accounting standards, strong technical capability, and exposure to external audits within a public practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

Public Practice Accounting

Prepare financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB)

Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies

Assist with BAS, IAS, and FBT preparation and lodgements

Perform account reconciliations and year-end close activities

Support senior accountants and managers with client queries and compliance work

Maintain accurate working papers and documentation in line with firm standards

Audit Support

Assist in planning and execution of external audits for Australian Not for profit Inc association clients

Perform audit testing, including substantive testing and analytical procedures

Prepare audit working papers and evidence in accordance with ASA requirements

Assist with risk assessments, control testing, and audit documentation

Support audit managers during fieldwork and review cycles

Respond to review notes and ensure audit files are complete and compliant

Preferred / Nice to Have

CA / CPA (or currently studying)

Experience with Australian accounting software such as:

oXero, MYOB, or QuickBooks

oMYOB AE Or XPM

Experience working with mid-tier or boutique Australian accounting firms

Prior experience working in an offshore support model

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

2+ years experience in Australian public practice

Hands-on audit experience supporting external audits

Strong understanding of:

oAustralian Accounting Standards (AASB)

oAustralian Auditing Standards (ASA)

oAustralian tax and compliance requirements

Experience working directly with Australian partners, managers, or clients

High attention to detail and strong documentation skills
