Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the full finance function, covering both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. This is an overseas leadership role with the opportunity to grow into a Finance Lead position and build and manage an overseas accounting team. The role supports accurate reporting, compliance with Australian regulations, strong financial controls, and delivery of commercial insights to assist strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to support RecruitGo ensuring a smooth transition from existing processes to the new systems. The role will provide accounting support to finance. This includes working alongside an external accounting firm to assist with daily bookkeeping, financial forecasting, cash flow projections, preparing job costings, audits, and analysis of key business KPIs across the group. Training will be provided, particularly in relation to AU accounting process and systems.

Reporting Line & Location

  • Reports to: General Manager
  • Location: Overseas (Work from Home initially; flexible to work from an office when established)
  • Travel: Opportunity to visit Melbourne office 2–3 times per year

Core ResponsibilitiesB. Management Accounting & Commercial SupportLeadership & Growth Opportunity

  • Financial Accounting
  • Manage month-end close.
  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations in Xero.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including aged reports.
  • Review supplier statements and follow up on missing bills.
  • Submit and monitor supplier bills for approval in line with negotiated pricing.
  • Process weekly payroll and superannuation submissions in Xero.
  • Prepare and lodge IAS (monthly), BAS (quarterly), PAYG and Super obligations.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and ATO regulations.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and Board reporting packs.
  • Finalize actuals with variance explanations.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and provide best/worst case analysis.
  • Liaise forecast inputs with operational teams.
  • Prepare project cost tracking meetings and provide margin analysis.
  • Monitor project profitability and commercial claims.
  • Prepare aged payables reports and timely payments to the suppliers.
  • Provide cash flow forecasts and working capital insights.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.

This role is designed to evolve into a Finance Lead position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build, hire and manage an overseas accounting team, establish structured finance processes, and drive continuous improvement and automation across the finance function.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in senior accounting roles
  • CA or CPA qualification (Mandatory)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Mandatory)
  • Strong experience using Xero (Mandatory)
  • Solid understanding of Australian tax and accounting regulations
  • Experience in manufacturing or project-based industries preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial mindset and high attention to detail
  • Amenable to working hours 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Melbourne)
  • Flexible for future overseas office visit at Melbourne
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
