Role Overview
- This role isn't just about designing learning — it's about building compliant, audit-ready training systems from the ground up.
- As an AU RTO Learning Design & Compliance Officer, you'll sit at the intersection of assessment development and compliance. Instructional design is only part of the picture — your real impact comes from ensuring every assessment, document, and mapping aligns with training package requirements and stands up to audit scrutiny.
- If you're someone who values precision, understands the VET landscape deeply, and can confidently translate compliance requirements into structured learning and assessment — this is where your expertise shines.
Key Responsibilities:

- Interpret training package requirements and translate them into compliant materials.
- Design and update training and assessment resources aligned with frameworks.
- Create and maintain mapping documentation (unit to assessment alignment).
- Ensure all materials meet RTO compliance and audit standards.
- Support compliance documentation, including TAS and policy/procedure reviews.
- Upload and manage LMS content (SCORM-compliant where applicable).
- Maintain version control and document accuracy.
- Participate in validation and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with SMEs, trainers, and internal stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications (Must-Have):
- Minimum 2+ years experience in instructional design, learning design, or related roles within the VET/RTO sector.
- Proven experience developing assessments from scratch.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply training package requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with RTO compliance, including audits, TAS, and compliance documentation.
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of the Australian VET sector.
- Experience creating mapping documentation and structured learning materials.
- High attention to detail (critical for success in this role).
- Experience working in structured, process-driven environments.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas or similar).
- Familiarity with SCORM content and LMS management.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
