Role Overview

  • Great learning doesn't happen by accident—it happens by design.
  • As an AU RTO Instructional Designer / Learning Content Developer, you'll turn training requirements into engaging, learner-centered experiences that are practical, compliant, and built for real-world impact. From interactive eLearning modules to assessment resources and multimedia content, you'll create learning solutions that help individuals build skills while supporting organizations in meeting Australian RTO standards.
  • Working closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and compliance teams, you'll help shape learning experiences that are as effective as they are engaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design learner-centered training programs using instructional design best practices.
  • Develop interactive eLearning using Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring tools.
  • Create learner guides, facilitator guides, presentations, assessments, videos, job aids, and supporting resources.
  • Develop compliant assessment tools, mapping documents, and evidence guides aligned with Australian Training Packages.
  • Contextualize learning and assessment resources for different learner groups, industries, and delivery methods.
  • Package and publish SCORM/xAPI learning content for Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Build, configure, upload, and maintain courses within LMS and Student Management Systems (SMS).
  • Produce multimedia learning assets using digital design and video creation tools.
  • Maintain version control, documentation, and quality assurance for learning resources.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, compliance specialists, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Review and continuously improve learning resources based on learner feedback, validation outcomes, and regulatory updates.
  • Ensure all learning and assessment materials meet Australian RTO compliance requirements.

Job Required Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • Experience in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Digital Learning, or Learning Content Development.
  • Experience developing learning resources for Australian Registered Training Organizations (RTOs) or similar education environments.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Training Packages and competency-based training.
  • Experience developing compliant learning and assessment resources.
  • Knowledge of the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence.
  • Experience contextualizing learning and assessment materials.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience creating eLearning using Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring tools.
  • Strong written communication, editing, and content development skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Moodle, Canvas, LearnUpon, or other Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience with aXcelerate or other Student Management Systems (SMS).
  • Experience using Assessment Management Systems (AMS).
  • Knowledge of SCORM and xAPI.
  • Experience using Canva and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Synthesia or AI-assisted content creation tools.
  • Experience using HubSpot or similar CRM platforms.
  • Experience in curriculum mapping and assessment validation.
  • Knowledge of ASQA compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with CRICOS and VSL.
  • Experience developing multimedia learning assets, including interactive content and videos.
  • LMS administration, learner support, and course configuration experience.
