Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting and taxation experience within an Australian firm or public practice environment
- At least 2 years of experience leading or managing an Australian tax or accounting team is required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related field with a major in Accounting
- Completed CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Proven experience preparing Australian tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships
- Strong technical expertise in Australian taxation, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Division 7A, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), budgeting, and fee management
- Experience managing Australian tax engagements across diverse client portfolios within a public practice or professional services environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals while managing workflow, quality, and performance
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience using Xero is preferred
- High level of accuracy, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards
- Open to a hybrid work arrangement with office options in Ortigas or Pasay
Responsibilities
- Review Australian income tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
- Develop and present advanced tax planning strategies tailored to client needs and compliance objectives.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with current statutory, accounting, and reporting requirements.
- Investigate complex accounting matters and develop clear, technically sound resolutions.
- Review engagement workpapers to confirm completeness, accuracy, and sufficient supporting documentation.
- Evaluate management reports and provide practical financial insights and recommendations to clients.
- Strengthen team capability by sharing technical knowledge, emerging industry developments, and proven best practices.
- Keep managers and partners informed of workflow priorities, delivery risks, and team performance concerns.
- Assess work completed by junior accountants and provide practical coaching, review notes, and technical direction.
- Ensure financial and client information is processed accurately and maintained correctly across internal systems.
- Apply a strong understanding of each client's operations, commercial environment, and market position when evaluating accounting and tax matters.
