Qualifications
- Bachelor's qualification in Accounting, Finance, or another relevant business discipline.
- 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, including hands-on Australian accounting experience supporting Australian clients, businesses, or accounting engagements.
- Well-developed understanding of Australian accounting principles, reporting requirements, compliance practices, and financial documentation standards.
- Hands-on capability using Xero and/or MYOB, together with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Exposure to Australian statutory obligations, including preparation or processing of regulatory lodgements involving the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
- Strong financial analysis and investigative skills, with the judgment to assess accounting issues, identify discrepancies, and determine appropriate courses of action.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate, thoroughly checked work while independently balancing priorities, managing deadlines, following established procedures, and escalating complex matters when necessary.
- Confident English communication and relationship-management skills for working effectively with Australian clients and stakeholders, as well as internal teams, while responding positively to direction and feedback.
- Previous involvement in guiding, coaching, training, or overseeing junior team members, including allocating work and providing constructive input.
- Self-motivated and quick to learn new accounting systems and processes, with strong adaptability, accountability, professional ethics, and the ability to remain effective in deadline-driven environments.
Responsibilities
- Prepare workpapers, financial statements, reconciliations, supporting schedules, reports, and other accounting documentation for review and approval
- Coordinate with the local supervisor and Australia-based team to prioritize workloads, complete assigned tasks, and meet established quality standards and deadlines
- Address review feedback promptly, incorporating required revisions and applying learnings to subsequent work
- Process approved regulatory lodgements with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records in line with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements
- Provide professional and responsive support to clients and internal stakeholders while fostering productive relationships across the team
- Manage responsibilities with increasing autonomy and accountability, including providing dependable coverage when local team members are unavailable
- Participate in meetings, technical training, and professional development activities to strengthen accounting expertise and contribute to team effectiveness
