THE ROLE

You will function as a senior accountant servicing a portfolio of Australian clients across companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals — preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and handling the full range of compliance obligations that come with a busy public practice. This is not a support role. You will liaise directly with clients and with the ATO and ASIC on behalf of those clients, managing your own workflow and deadlines with a high degree of autonomy. The scope of this role is broad, the accountability is real, and the standard expected is that of an experienced practice accountant.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

----------------

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals

• Prepare and review BAS and IAS, and assist with Division 7A, FBT, CGT, and other taxation matters

• Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules and perform general ledger reconciliations

• Liaise directly with clients on taxation and accounting matters, and communicate with the ATO and ASIC on their behalf

• Assist clients with Xero queries and provide payroll assistance as required

• Manage your own workflow to ensure all client deadlines and lodgement obligations are met

• Prepare professional client correspondence and respond to day-to-day queries with clarity and accuracy

WHAT YOU BRING

• Proficiency in Xero sufficient to reconcile client accounts, prepare BAS, and manage client files independently — experience with Xero Practice Manager, BGL, and Infinity is a strong advantage

• A minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience inside an Australian public practice accounting firm — commercial or industry backgrounds will not be considered for this role

• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian tax across companies, trusts, partnerships, and individual returns, including Division 7A, FBT, and CGT

• The proven ability to manage a varied client portfolio autonomously, taking full ownership of quality and deadlines without close supervision

• Strong written English communication skills at a standard suitable for professional client correspondence and ATO and ASIC liaison

• A genuine work ethic and the habit of working through problems independently before escalating
