Atlassian Consultant, Sr.

The Position

We are seeking a Senior Atlassian Consultant to join our team and serve as a trusted advisor to our enterprise clients. In this customer-facing role, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex Atlassian solutions (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management). You will leverage your deep technical expertise, particularly in custom automation and integration, to translate business requirements into scalable, high-impact solutions that drive operational excellence and agile transformation.

This is a hands-on, senior role requiring a blend of consulting acumen and software development skills. You will be responsible for mentoring junior team members and contributing to internal best practices, while directly influencing the success of our clients Atlassian ecosystems.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead Consulting Engagements:Manage enterprise Atlassian consulting projects from discovery and requirements gathering through to delivery. Facilitate customer workshops, stakeholder interviews, and executive presentations to define and align strategic outcomes.
• Design and Implement Solutions:Architect, configure, and optimize Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management (JSM) solutions. Design scalable projects, workflows, schemes, service desks, portals, and SLAs that align with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
• Custom Automation and Development:Write and maintain advanced ScriptRunner scripts (Groovy) to implement custom behaviors, listeners, validators, and post-functions. Develop automation rules to enhance workflow efficiency and extend platform capabilities.
• System Integration and API Development:Integrate Atlassian tools with third-party applications (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
• Training and Best Practices:Conduct training sessions for users at all levels (developers, project managers, executives). Define governance policies, document best practices, and create comprehensive technical documentation to ensure standardization and user adoption.
• Mentorship and Collaboration:Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior consultants and administrators. Collaborate with sales, product, and support teams to advocate for customer needs and identify opportunities for service expansion.

Requirements (Must-Haves)

• Experience:7+ years of professional experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a senior Atlassian consulting, administration, or solution architecture role.
• Technical Expertise:Deep expertise in Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management (JSM) configuration, administration, and optimization.
• Development Skills:Proven experience with Groovy scripting (specifically ScriptRunner for Jira), including behaviors, listeners, fragments, and console use. Strong programming experience with Python and Java is also required.
• API & Integration:Extensive experience with REST API development and integrations. Strong knowledge of webhooks, smart values, and event-driven automation within the Atlassian ecosystem.
• Methodologies:Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, ITSM, and enterprise delivery methodologies.
• Customer-Facing Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to lead workshops, gather requirements, and present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, up to the executive level.
• Languages:Strong command of English (both verbal and written).

Nice-to-Have

• Certifications:Active Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-100, ACP-600, ACP-620) or Atlassian Certified Expert designation.
• Migration Experience:Experience leading complex Atlassian Cloud migrations (Server/DC to Cloud), including the migration of third-party add-ons like ScriptRunner and Automation Rules.
• Tooling:Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins), version control systems (Git, Bitbucket), and database queries (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL).
• Advanced Atlassian Skills:Experience with Rovo, Forge, Atlassian Intelligence, Jira Product Discovery (JPD), or other advanced Atlassian solutions.
• DevOps Knowledge:Familiarity with DevOps practices and the broader enterprise tooling landscape (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow).
