Position Overview
The Assurance & Tax Specialist will support the firm's assurance, compliance, and tax functions by performing audit-related procedures, preparing and reviewing tax filings, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in both assurance and tax, with the flexibility to support projects across multiple service lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Assurance / Audit
- Assist in planning, execution, and completion of assurance engagements.
- Perform testing of financial statement accounts and internal controls.
- Conduct analytical procedures and identify variances or audit issues.
- Prepare working papers and ensure documentation meets firm and regulatory standards.
- Support senior team members during client meetings and walkthroughs.
Tax
- Prepare and/or review tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
- Conduct tax research and assist with tax planning initiatives.
- Verify accuracy of tax filings and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support year-end tax processes and client advisory services.
General / Cross-Functional
- Maintain accurate and well-organized audit and tax documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with process improvements, reporting enhancements, and special projects.
- Ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 3 years experience in audit, assurance, or tax.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with ERP systemse.g., QuickBooks, CaseWare, ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, Lacerte, Drake)
