Job Description

Job Overview:

  • The Associate Tax Accountant (AU) is responsible for managing accounting activities, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance, and supporting the delivery of exceptional financial services across a diverse client portfolio.

Work Schedule:

  • 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Monday to Friday

Work Set-up:

  • Hybrid
  • Weekly Onsite Schedule from 1st to 3rd month
  • Every two weeks onsite from 4th to 6th month
  • Once a month onsite after probationary period (6 months)

Office Assignment:

  • MAKATI OFFICE: 22F Tower 1, One Ayala Corporate Center, Ayala Ave., Makati City

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns (individual, trust, partnership, and company), BAS/IAS, and other statutory reports.
  • Provide strategic advice on tax planning, structuring, and business growth.
  • Conduct client meetings and communicate insights clearly and professionally.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring timely and responsive service.
  • Manage assigned client engagements independently, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of accounting services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining professional and responsive communication.
  • Gather, review, and follow up on client information and documentation required to complete engagement deliverables.
  • Complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and client service.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial records, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date client accounting records and ensure supporting documentation is complete and properly organized.
  • Prepare and deliver workpapers, reconciliations, and schedules for month-end reporting, BAS/IAS preparation, and other compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and client-specific procedures and requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiencies, and add value to client engagements.
  • Support practice administration activities, including job management, documentation maintenance, and workflow coordination.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and managers to address client needs and ensure successful engagement outcomes.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years experience in an Australian accounting firm
  • Hands-on experience with Xero and Xero Tax
  • Experience communicating with Australian accounting teams and clients
  • Ability to work independently and raise queries when required
  • Good understanding of Australian tax compliance requirements • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • BAS / IAS preparation, including GST coding and reconciliation, PAYG Withholding, PAYG Instalments, payroll reconciliation, BAS workpapers, and identification/correction of GST coding issues in Xero.
  • Preparation of Individual Income Tax Returns include: Rental property schedules and related deductions, Sole trader tax returns and business schedules
  • Workpaper preparation and supporting documentation
  • Experience with company and trust tax returns would be an advantage, but is not essential
  • Experience with Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations for individual income tax return would be an advantage but is not essential.
