Associate Lawyer

Company Description Mercado-Gephart & Nacua (MGN) Law Firm is a Cebu-based boutique law firm committed to advocating for clients and bringing the law to their side in a practical, accessible way.

The firm focuses on compliance, corporate governance, special transactions, and litigation, whether civil, criminal, and administrative. MGN works closely with clients throughout each case and transaction, ensuring they understand their options and the potential implications of their decisions.

Role Description The Associate Lawyer will handle a variety of legal matters, including drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing pleadings and contracts, conducting legal research, and providing sound legal advice to clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing legal issues, developing case strategies, and coordinating with partners and other team members to move cases forward efficiently.

The role also involves appearing before courts and administrative bodies as needed, negotiating on behalf of clients, and maintaining accurate case files and documentation. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Cebu, with primary work performed on-site and some work-from-home flexibility, depending on case requirements and firm policies.

• Possesses strong legal research, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills to support case strategy and client advisories.
• Demonstrates proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, pleadings, contracts, and correspondence with attention to detail.
• Shows effective client communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Exhibits strong organizational and time-management abilities, including handling multiple matters, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
• Holds a law degree and is duly licensed to practice law in the Philippines; relevant litigation or transactional experience is an advantage. New passers are welcome.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid setup in Cebu, collaborating both in-office and remotely, and using legal and productivity software tools.
