Job Description

Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President – Merchandising (Hardware) leads the strategy, planning, and execution of the hardware category. The role focuses on building the right assortment, meeting sales and profit goals, managing vendor partnerships, pricing, inventory, and promotions, and guiding the team to optimize category performance and enhance the customer shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies for the hardware category to drive sales, profit, and market share.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations, pricing, and supply agreements.
  • Oversee product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory to meet customer needs and support business goals.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and marketing teams to ensure optimal stock levels and effective category promotions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the merchandising team to achieve KPIs and performance targets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 8–10 years merchandising or category management experience in retail, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in hardware, tools, home improvement, or related retail categories.
  • Proven expertise in category growth, vendor negotiations, strategic planning, and data-driven decision-making, supported by strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities, with proficiency in merchandising systems, ERP, and Microsoft Office, thriving in fast-paced retail environments.
