Job Description
Overview:
The Assistant Sanitary Design Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design, and implementation of sanitary and wastewater systems for various development projects. The role ensures that all sanitary designs comply with national building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards, while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions. The Sanitary Design Manager oversees the entire design cycle—from conceptualization to detailed engineering—and provides technical guidance to both in-house staff and external consultants.
Responsibilities:
1. Sanitary System Planning & Design
- Lead the preparation of conceptual, schematic, and detailed sanitary and wastewater designs for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
- Ensure accuracy of design calculations, sizing of sewer lines, pump stations, STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants), septic tanks, and related components.
- Conduct hydraulic and feasibility studies to determine optimal design strategies.
2. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all sanitary designs comply with:
- National Plumbing Code
- National Building Code
- DPWH, DENR, DOH, and LGU requirements
- Prepare and submit regulatory documents and secure necessary permits.
3. Project Coordination
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, MEPF teams, project managers, and contractors to ensure integrated and conflict-free designs.
- Coordinate with external consultants and review their outputs for alignment with project requirements and standards.
4. Technical Review & Quality Assurance
- Perform QA/QC checks on drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction details.
- Develop and implement design standards, templates, and best practices for the sanitary discipline.
5. Project Execution Support
- Provide technical support during construction, including responding to RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting site inspections when needed.
- Troubleshoot design-related issues and recommend corrective measures.
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of sanitary or plumbing designers and engineers.
- Review workloads, assign tasks, and ensure timely deliverables.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
7. Cost & Resource Management
- Review sanitary design cost estimates and ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sanitary Engineering (or related field); licensed engineer.
- Proven experience in sanitary design engineering within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards for sanitary plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
