The Assistant Purchasing Manager supports the Purchasing Manager in driving efficient, timely, and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services critical to real estate development and property operations. This role plays a key part in supplier sourcing, bid evaluation, purchase order management, and vendor performance monitoring, while ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, and procurement best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate canvass sheets to ensure completeness, competitiveness, and accuracy of supplier quotations
- Evaluate and check purchase requests and purchase orders from various departments for correctness, completeness, and policy compliance
- Process, approve, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP, ensuring proper documentation and workflow adherence
- Perform SAP procurement transactions, including PO creation, amendments, price updates, and cancellations
- Source and secure supplier quotations, bids, and proposals, ensuring confidentiality and fairness in the bidding process
- Analyze and evaluate tabulated bids, ensuring objective comparison based on price, quality, specifications, and vendor reliability
- Support negotiations with vendors to achieve best value, cost savings, and favorable commercial terms
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery timelines, resolving issues related to delays, quality, or compliance
- Ensure completeness and validity of vendor accreditation and documentation requirements
- Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing movements, and supplier landscape to support strategic sourcing decisions
- Assist in implementing procurement process improvements and cost optimization initiatives
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of procurement activities with project timelines and operational needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field
- At least 5–7 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in real estate, construction, or property management
- Strong working knowledge of SAP MM or other ERP procurement systems
- Proven experience in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and contract management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
