Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of construction projects. This role partners closely with the Project Manager to manage both administrative and technical aspects of projects—from pre-construction through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial & Preconstruction Support

  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying and planning required resources (labor, materials, equipment, and services)
  • Support the development, tracking, and management of project budgets and cost reports
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, subcontract scopes, and cost-related documentation
  • Contribute to preconstruction efforts, including cost monitoring and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with prime contract requirements (insurance, permits, bonds, lien releases, and reporting obligations)

Project Start-Up & Scheduling

  • Assist in developing project schedules and responsibility matrices at project kickoff
  • Coordinate subcontractor onboarding, including pre-construction meetings, documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Support submittal processing, including ownership of complex scopes when needed
  • Establish communication workflows with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of resources
  • Promote jobsite safety, compliance, and adherence to company policies and quality standards

Project Administration & Execution

  • Support the administration of RFIs, submittals, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Attend planning, progress, and coordination meetings; document minutes and follow up on action items
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and coordinate with the Project Manager on resolving issues
  • Review plans and specifications for compliance and constructability; assist in identifying and resolving issues
  • Coordinate schedule updates and assist in time impact analysis for change proposals

Project Closeout

  • Assist in project closeout activities, including final documentation, financial reconciliation, and contract compliance
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to resolve outstanding items
  • Support final demobilization and ensure proper project closure within ERP systems

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Support the Project Manager in delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Participate in industry and client engagement activities to strengthen company presence

Leadership & Development

  • Promote company core values, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Support training and development initiatives, including mentoring junior team members when applicable
  • Take ownership of personal and professional development through ongoing training

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent field experience
  • 4–7 years of experience in construction project support or leadership roles OR 8+ years of relevant field experience
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, documentation, and project lifecycle
  • Experience supporting multiple project phases including preconstruction, execution, and closeout
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and construction tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
