Job Description

The Opportunity

This is more than purchasing. As an Assistant Manager – Procurement at The Medical City Iloilo, you will play a key role in ensuring that the hospital has the right supplies, equipment, and services available at the right time, quality, and cost.

You will work closely with internal departments, suppliers, and stakeholders to manage procurement activities, strengthen supplier partnerships, support cost efficiency, and ensure that purchasing processes are aligned with hospital standards, policies, and operational requirements.

This is for someone who is strategic, detail-oriented, results-driven, and confident in managing people, suppliers, and competing priorities—while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

What You'll Actually Do

Lead procurement operations: Oversee day-to-day procurement activities and ensure timely sourcing and purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, and other organizational requirements.

Manage supplier relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, evaluate supplier performance, and ensure consistent quality and service delivery.

Drive cost efficiency: Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and better procurement strategies without compromising quality, patient care, or operational requirements.

Ensure compliance: Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, approved procedures, budgetary controls, and applicable standards and regulations.

Coordinate with stakeholders: Work closely with different departments to understand requirements, validate specifications, prioritize requests, and ensure timely fulfillment of procurement needs.

Monitor procurement performance: Track purchase requests, purchase orders, delivery timelines, supplier performance, and other procurement metrics to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.

Support inventory and supply continuity: Collaborate with relevant teams to help maintain adequate supply levels and minimize risks of stock-outs, delays, and unnecessary purchases.

Lead and develop the team: Provide guidance, coaching, and support to procurement team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Prepare reports and recommendations: Analyze procurement data, spending patterns, supplier performance, and purchasing trends and provide recommendations to management.

Who You Are

  • A graduate of Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferably with at least 3–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or related functions, with supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience in healthcare, hospital, pharmaceutical, medical supplies, or other highly regulated environments is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing, supplier management, negotiation, and purchasing controls.
  • Skilled in cost analysis, contract and vendor management, and procurement documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to service excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and preferably experienced with ERP, purchasing, or procurement systems.
