As an Assistant Manager, you will be a key member of our offshore Financial Statements Compliance team, supporting the delivery of financial statement compilation services for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work closely with Australian-based team members who will provide technical guidance, engagement oversight, and client-specific instructions. In addition to your execution responsibilities, you will help support and develop junior offshore team members by reviewing their work and providing day-to-day guidance. Your role will include:
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting work papers for a range of clients and entities.
- Reviewing trial balances, reconciliations, and underlying financial information to identify and resolve issues.
- Completing work in accordance with established methodologies, templates, procedures, and quality standards.
- Working closely with Australian team members to understand engagement requirements, respond to queries, and meet deliverable timelines.
- Following client-specific instructions and escalating technical or engagement-related issues to Australian team members where appropriate.
- Escalating financial reporting queries, exceptions, and discrepancies to the appropriate Australian team members and assisting with their resolution.
- Managing assigned deliverables across multiple engagements while maintaining a strong focus on quality and timeliness.
- Reviewing work completed by junior onshore team members and providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Assisting with the day-to-day coordination of onshore team activities, including monitoring progress against deadlines and priorities.
- Supporting the training and coaching of junior onshore team members to build technical capability and consistency in delivery.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, standardisation, and quality within existing processes and workflows.
- Collaborating effectively with both onshore and Australian team members to deliver a high standard of client service.
You bring to the role :
- At least 5 years experience in accounting, financial reporting or audit, ideally within a professional services or public practice environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or a related field, and CPA qualification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience preparing IFRS financial statements and supporting work papers to a high standard.
- Proven ability to review the work of others, provide constructive feedback, and support the development of junior team members.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both local and offshore stakeholders.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets and complex workbooks.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to Australian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements would be highly regarded.
- Experience using financial statement preparation and reporting software such as OneSource, CaseWare, or similar platforms would be advantageous.
- A proactive mindset, strong sense of accountability, and a willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
