Oversees daily accounting operations, manages the finance team, ensures compliance, prepares financial reports, handles budgets & forecasting, and optimizes processes for accuracy, focusing on payroll, temp/contractor billing, and client/vendor financials to support the agency's core recruitment business
Financial Oversight
- Manage day-to-day accounting (AP/AR, GL, bank recs), month/year-end closes, and ensure financial data integrity
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor, and direct accounting staff, fostering a high-performance environment
Compliance & Controls
- Implement and enforce internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, tax laws (especially for contingent workers), and company policies
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties
Process Improvement
- Develop, automate, and refine accounting systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Strategic Support
- Provide financial insights to guide business decisions, manage cash flow, and assess financial risks
Staffing-Specific Focus
- Oversee critical areas like contractor payroll, client invoicing (temporary/permanent placements), and vendor management, understanding the unique financial flow of staffing
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA preferred
- Proven experience in accounting management, ideally within staffing or service industries
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Great Plains, etc.) and MS Office
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and relevant tax laws
