Assistant Manager / Manager – Corporate Communications
Position Summary
The Assistant Manager / Manager – Corporate Communications plays a key role in strengthening the reputation, credibility, and thought leadership of SM Investments Corporation and its portfolio companies.
The role serves as a strategic storyteller for the Group, responsible for identifying, developing, and communicating compelling narratives that showcase SM's contributions to economic growth, sustainability, good corporate governance, innovation, financial inclusion, education, and community development.
Working closely with business units, subsidiaries, and senior leaders, the position translates complex business initiatives into clear, relevant, and engaging stories that resonate with media, investors, employees, regulators, partners, and the broader public.
Key Responsibilities
Narrative Development, Writing and Content Strategy
- Lead the development of strategic corporate narratives that strengthen SM's reputation and institutional credibility.
- Identify, develop, and write compelling stories that highlight the Group's business performance, sustainability initiatives, governance leadership, innovation, and social impact.
- Translate complex business, financial, governance, sustainability, and operational topics into clear and engaging content for diverse stakeholder audiences.
- Develop and maintain narrative frameworks and messaging platforms that support SM's corporate priorities and long-term business strategy.
- Continuously identify story opportunities across the SM ecosystem through proactive engagement with business units and portfolio companies.
- Ensure all content aligns with SM's corporate values, brand positioning, and stakeholder commitments.
Content Development
Prepare and support the development of:
- Press releases
- Feature stories
- Executive speeches and talking points
- Thought leadership articles and opinion pieces
- Media briefing materials
- Corporate presentations
- Sustainability and ESG-related content
- Integrated report content
- Internal communication materials
- Stakeholder communication materials
- News monitoring reports
Corporate Reputation and Thought Leadership
- Support initiatives that strengthen stakeholder trust and reinforce SM's position as a responsible and sustainable business leader.
- Develop thought leadership opportunities for senior executives on topics such as governance, sustainability, financial inclusion, education, climate resilience, entrepreneurship, and nation-building.
- Monitor emerging trends and issues that may present opportunities or risks to SM's reputation and stakeholder relationships.
- Recommend proactive communication strategies that enhance visibility and strengthen institutional credibility.
Media Relations and External Communications
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business, financial, sustainability, and mainstream media.
- Support media engagements, interviews, press conferences, media briefings, and corporate events.
- Prepare key messages, media materials, FAQs, and communication toolkits.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and recommend opportunities to increase positive visibility and share of voice.
Digital and Stakeholder Communications
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop content across digital and social media platforms.
- Support stakeholder engagement initiatives through consistent and integrated communications.
- Monitor communication performance and audience engagement to improve content effectiveness and reach.
Issues and Crisis Communications Support
- Monitor reputational issues and emerging risks that may impact the organization.
- Assist in preparing communication responses, holding statements, Q&As, and stakeholder messaging during sensitive situations.
- Support crisis communication planning and execution as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Business, or related field.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, media, or content development.
- Strong understanding of business, sustainability, governance, and stakeholder communications.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional teams is an advantage.
