Assistant Manager - Buyer (Non-food / Dry Food)

About the role

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is looking for an Assistant Manager - Buyer to manage, develop, and purchase products in line with company guidelines, achieving launch, sales, and profit targets for your assigned category group as we grow our wholesale footprint in the Philippines. We have openings in both Non Food and Dry Food, and you'll be considered for the category that best fits your background. It suits a proactive, analytical buyer who wants to own their category.

What you'll do:

• Find and evaluate new products, suppliers, and market opportunities
• Shape the assortment for your category around what customers want
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, and promotional support with suppliers
• Build strong relationships with local and international suppliers, and review how they perform
• Keep products available and excess stock low, working with Supply Chain and Warehouse
• Analyze pricing, margins, sales, and inventory turnover, and turn insights into recommendations
• Partner with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance, and help launch new products and merchandising programs

Things to help you succeed in the role:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field
• At least 3-5 years in buying, merchandising, procurement, category management, or a related commercial function
• A background in a major retailer, wholesaler, department store, supermarket, or specialty retailer
• Strong supplier negotiation, sourcing, and commercial analysis skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills
• Proactive, independent, and comfortable juggling multiple categories in a fast-paced retail environment
• Clear communication and stakeholder management
