About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager Accounts Payable to join our Ship Management Center (SMC). This role is responsible for leading the accounting function, ensuring compliance with maritime financial regulations, local statutory requirements, and company policies, while supporting the financial operations of vessels under management.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing vessel accounting, cash flow, financial reporting, audits, and team leadership within a dynamic international maritime environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting operations of the Ship Management Center, ensuring compliance with local accounting, taxation, and reporting regulations.
- Review and supervise the preparation of ship-owner financial statements, management reports, and accounting schedules in accordance with client agreements and vessel ownership requirements.
- Monitor vessel cash positions and technical variance reports, ensuring accurate financial control and reporting.
- Oversee timely settlement of vessel-related payments, including supplier invoices, crew payroll, and operational expenses.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records, general ledger reconciliations, and adherence to company accounting policies and chart of accounts.
- Support the preparation and forecasting of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cash flow requirements for managed vessels and office operations.
- Monitor payment processes, identify discrepancies, and provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.
- Ensure the accurate issuance and processing of invoices, payments, and related financial documentation.
- Coordinate statutory reporting, tax filings, and financial statements to ensure timely compliance with local regulations.
- Lead and support internal and external audits, ensuring prompt submission of required documentation and implementation of corrective actions.
- Stay updated on developments in accounting standards, tax legislation, and maritime financial practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, controls, and reporting systems.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the accounting team to achieve operational excellence and professional growth.
Candidates from maritime or related industries are strongly preferred.
