Assistant Director of Engineering

The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for organizing and leading a professional engineering team to ensure the smooth daily operation of all hotel facilities and equipment. This includes overseeing day-to-day operational efficiency, conducting regular inspections of the property with particular attention to life safety features, and supporting the Director of Engineering in all duties. The role ensures that maintenance, repair, and operational standards are consistently upheld to guarantee guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction.

An ideal candidate must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer, preferably holding a professional license (PME or PEE). A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in deluxe hotel maintenance is required, along with effective supervisory and leadership skills. Strong knowledge of computer operations, CADD, and building automation systems is essential. The ideal candidate should also be mature, confident, courteous, and well-groomed, with excellent command of the English language and strong communication skills. Physical and mental fitness are required, and residency near the Makati area is preferred.

The Assistant Director of Engineering supervises the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel equipment, tools, and facilities, while directing and mentoring the maintenance staff. Responsibilities include overseeing HVAC systems, coordinating with contractors for renovations and new construction, and performing quality control checks to ensure safety and reliability. The role manages maintenance workers, participates in hiring and training, evaluates staff performance, and prepares budgets for materials and labor. Additional duties involve ensuring compliance with company policies, working within budgetary limits, developing departmental policies and manuals, and actively participating in recruitment and talent development.
