Assistant Contract Manager (Main Contractor)

Location: Singapore
Reports To: Contract Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Contract Manager supports the Contract Manager in managing all contractual and commercial matters of construction projects. The role involves contract administration, cost control, subcontract management, variation claims, and ensuring the project's commercial interests are protected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering main contracts and subcontracts.
  • Prepare and evaluate subcontract packages, quotations, and tender submissions.
  • Manage variation orders (VO), claims, and extension of time (EOT) submissions.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and cash flow.
  • Prepare progress claims and payment certifications.
  • Review subcontractor claims and payment applications.
  • Maintain proper contract records and project documentation.
  • Support contract negotiations with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Attend project meetings and provide commercial updates.

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with main contractors is preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard forms of contract and construction practices in Singapore.
  • Good understanding of cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Singapore construction contracts (e.g., PSSCOC, SIA, FIDIC).
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
