Job Summary

We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong foundational knowledge in core accounting tasks—specifically bank reconciliations, accruals, and ledger entries—combined with advanced proficiency in multiple accounting software platforms. You will heavily utilize Microsoft Dynamics NAV and MYOB to manage financial data, streamline data entry, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Posting of Entries: Process, verify, and post routine journal entries, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger adjustments.

• Accruals & Adjustments: Support month-end and year-end closing processes by calculating, preparing, and posting monthly accruals, prepayments, and deferrals.

• System Data Migration: Assist with cross-platform data validation or migration projects between NAV, MYOB, and secondary software as needed.

• Reporting & Compliance: Generate standard financial statements, aging reports, and trial balances from various accounting software for management review.

• Tax Compliance & BAS Filing: Assist in prepare, verify, and lodge monthly or quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Installment Activity Statements (IAS). Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of GST, PAYG withholding, and PAYG installments.

• Software Management: Navigate and operate fluidly across Microsoft Dynamics NAV, MYOB, and other internal accounting platforms to manage day-to-day financial data.

• Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts across different systems. Identify, investigate, and resolve ledger discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven hands-on experience with both Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) and MYOB is highly preferred. Familiarity with other cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) is a strong plus.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent technical accounting certifications.

• Solid grasp of bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), particularly accrual accounting and double-entry systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) for data manipulation and cross-system reporting.

• Adaptable to different software interfaces, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight closing deadlines.
