We are seeking a skilled AS/400 RPG/ILE Developer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of business applications on the AS/400 (iSeries) platform. The role requires expertise in RPG/ILE programming, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
RPG/ILE Development
- Design, code, test, and maintain RPG/ILE programs to meet business requirements.
- Develop and enhance modular programs, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
System Analysis and Design
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Design effective and efficient solutions on the AS/400 platform.
Database Interaction
- Work with DB2 databases on the AS/400, utilizing SQL for data manipulation and retrieval.
- Ensure data integrity and optimize database interactions within RPG programs.
Integration and Collaboration
- Integrate RPG/ILE modules into comprehensive business applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team including analysts and project managers, to achieve project goals.
Testing and Debugging
- Conduct thorough testing of RPG programs to identify and resolve issues.
- Debug and optimize code for performance improvements.
Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all RPG/ILE programs, ensuring clarity and ease of future reference.
- Document data structures, program logic, and any other relevant information.
Performance Optimization
- Optimize RPG/ILE programs for efficiency, considering system resources and response times.
- Implement improvements to enhance overall system performance.
Version Control
- Utilize version control systems to manage code changes and updates systematically.
Problem Resolution
- Respond to and resolve issues related to RPG/ILE programs promptly, minimizing disruption to business operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an AS/400 RPG/ILE Developer.
- Proficiency in RPG IV, ILE, CL, and DB2 on the AS/400 platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
